Paper description
The purpose of this paper is to provide students with sufficient background and skills in environmental and resource management law, to enable them to be effective participants in resource management processes.
Objective
The teaching and learning objectives of the paper are to:

To acquaint students with the legal context of resource management in local and regional government,
- To ensure students are familiar with environmental and local government law as it relates to public sector planning;
- To familiarise students with legal information sources that will enable them to efficiently and effectively identify and research case law relevant to planning
- To familiarise students with decision-making processes
Students who complete this paper will be expected to:
- Be familiar with legal principles relevant to planning practice;
- Be acquainted with relevant case law for planning;
- Understand law as it relates to planning practice;
- Be familiar with legal information sources;
- Make a polished presentation of the implications for planning of a case law example.
Required Text
A course manual of compiled readings will be available at the beginning of the teaching period from Campus Copy.
