Paper description

This paper aims to introduce students to the skills that are necessary for the evaluation and formulation of effective policies, objectives and methods related to public policy planning. It follows the sequence of tasks that are necessary for developing a planning document such as a district plan under the Resource Management Act or a community plan under the Local Government Act.

Paper obectives

  • Develop analytical and technical skills related to planning issues;
  • Learn to evaluate and formulate plans, objectives, policies and methods;
  • Develop the ability to write effective policy and rule implementation measures;

Students who complete this paper will be expected to understand the links between environmental problems and policy solutions that are practical and effective.

Required Text

A course manual of compiled readings will be available at the beginning of the teaching period.
