BA(Hons) and BSocSc(Hons) in History, PGCert(Hist) and PGDip(Hist)

To be eligible to be considered for enrolment in the BA(Hons) or BSocSc(Hons), a student should normally have a minimum B average over their undergraduate History papers, or should have at least a B average in the best three of their 300 level History papers.

HIST506 is compulsory for all students taking more than two papers in History for BA(Hons) or BSocSc(Hons), unless they have passed 0202323 in a previous year.

All History Honours students are strongly advised to include HIST590 Directed Study as part of their programme. Before enrolling in a Directed Study, Dissertation, or Thesis, students should see the History Graduate Student Adviser, in the first instance, and have their proposed course of study approved by the Convenor of History.


The MA and MSocSc in History

Students for the MA and MSocSc in History must take either a 120 point thesis, a 90 point thesis and 30 points from approved 500 level papers, or a 60 point dissertation and 60 points from approved 500 level papers.


GradCert(Hist) and GradDip(Hist)

A Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma is available in History for graduates who have not included the subject at an advanced level in their first degree.
