The American continent, from Canada to Chile , includes the world's most powerful nation and a variety of different cultures. Papers in American Studies inform students about the cultures, the history, the literature and the politics of the countries that make up the Americas . American Studies may be taken as a major, or a supporting subject, and papers in the field will prepare students for a number of careers and can work well with majors in Political Science, History, English, Screen and Media Studies, Spanish, Economics, Law and Management. American Studies is an interdisciplinary programme that combines papers from four areas:
