With a dramatic increase in our exports to Asian countries (from 12% in 1970 to about 40% today, and likely to be 60% by 2010), it has become imperative for young New Zealanders to study the culture, society and languages of our Asian neighbours.

Asian Studies is an interdisciplinary subject concerned with the study of the civilisation, culture, economics, history, society, government, geography, international relations and politics of Asia.
