English Studies

Photo

As there will be no new intake within FASS to the BCS or BCS(Hons) degree from 2010, only students who are enrolled in the degree in 2009 and prior can take this major.

English Studies gives students an opportunity to consider why we read, and why we write, and how to do both – effectively and creatively. Using a variety of texts, current literary theory, and dealing with contemporary issues, this major examines readers' responses to text, and how those responses may be created. The study of language and literature within English Studies will enhance the student's critical and imaginative response to study in all areas of communication.
