Guide to the Presentation of Theses at the University of Waikato
Welcome to Graduate Study in English
English is a broad, exciting, and changing field of study. Going on to graduate study enables you to explore aspects of the subject in greater depth and to extend your range through courses available only at the advanced level. Graduate study in English at the University of Waikato includes traditional literary history and textual study, as well as critical theory, gender studies, postcolonial literatures, popular culture, creative writing and theatre direction. The wide-ranging research interests and expertise of the programme's staff mean there are also opportunities to conduct supervised research projects and programmes, usually at Masters and PhD level, in many areas. These pages provide information and advice about our BA Honours and MA programmes in English. It supplements the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Graduate Handbook. Please feel able to contact academic staff about their particular courses or areas of research supervision, the Convenor of English and the programme's Graduate Adviser for overall academic advice.
