Aim/Objectives
This paper considers the poetry and prose of American Writers of the American Renaissance. Students will study a variety of works by American writers of all kinds and ethnic groups to interrogate the larger American themes of democracy, freedom and individualism in the context of the American struggle for identity and the American Civil War.
