Visiting Scholars

We receive a number of requests every year from overseas scholars seeking affiliation with us while they're on sabbatical / study leave. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to respond positively to more than a very small number of such requests. To be successful, scholars are advised that we need to receive:

  1. A statement of the intended dates of the visit and the duration of the visit;
  2. A clear description of objectives for the visit, including specific indications of overlap in research activities between the proposed visitor and at least one staff member of the department;
  3. An indication of how the visitor might contribute to the activities of our programmes, including possible seminar titles or areas in which guest lectures could be provided;
  4. A current curriculum vitae

In addition please note that it is not expected that visiting scholars audit or follow papers within our programmes. Potential visiting scholars should also note that we do not provide any visa assistance and that obtaining a visa to enter New Zealand can be a slow process.

Requests should be directed to the Convenor, Professor Ray Harlow (rharlow@waikato.ac.nz).
