Student Profile

JOSEPH RAMANAIR
PhD Candidate

J Ramanair

Supervisors: Dr E Marcia Johnson, Dr Margaret Franken, Dr James McLellan

I am currently investigating the integration of e-learning in English (Academic) language courses at tertiary institutions. This qualitative research intends to explore what works, what remains a challenge and what is possible in efforts to normalise e-learning within the given contexts. Towards this end, I am working with course instructors through a series of action research sessions, interviews and classroom observations. Other participants in this study include students and those providing pedagogical, ICT and administrative support within the contexts of the respective institutions. The complexities within each unique context will be viewed, analysed and understood from the perspective of the Activity Framework.
