Cellophonics

Cellophonics 2010

Edward King, Santiago Cañon Valencia, Sarah Lee, Martha Read, Minji Kang, Jehanne Bastoni, Yotam Levy, Timothy Carpenter & James Tennant.

The University of Waikato cello octet, Cellophonics, was created as a performance outlet for the excellent cello students enrolled at the University of Waikato, studying with James Tennant. For some years Tennant has been the instigator for numerous cello groupings including the Auckland Cello Ensemble and the Belli Celli, featuring players from the Auckland Philharmonia. These ensembles have collaborated with many national and international artists including soprano Patricia Wright and cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. Cellophonics has been in existence for the past eight years and is the only permanent ensemble of its kind in the country. They have recently completed a central North Island tour and intend to record a CD later in the year.
