Greg Neil

Piano Accompanist


Dr Greg Neil completed doctoral studies in piano at Boston University in 2006. Prior to this he earned an MMus also at Boston University after undergraduate studies at Victoria University in Wellington. As well as significant University scholarships, Greg was the recipient of two Creative New Zealand Professional development grants during his overseas tenure and also received funding from the Adam Foundation and the Tindall Foundation. Whilst in the United States, Greg worked at Harvard University, Boston University and the Tanglewood Institute.
Since returning to New Zealand, Greg has worked at Auckland University, appeared with the APO as a contract player, with NBR NZ Opera as a coach, and is on the staff of the NZ Opera School, held every year in Wanganui in January. Greg relocated to Hamilton at the end of last year and in addition to being the Waikato area representative for the ABRSM, is also on the Music Staff at Waikato University.
Greg has appeared in concert with many of New Zealand’s elite singers – Simon O’Neill, Jonathan Lemalu, Philip Rhodes, Dame Malvina Major, Jared Holt, and Jenny Wollerman to name a few. Greg is currently on the board of the Dame Malvina Major foundation.
