Welcome to the Department of Political Science and Public Policy.

The study of political life is a broad endeavour – a fact reflected in the variety of papers we offer. As a student you may focus on a particular area – on international relations, or political theory, or public policy. Or you may follow a broader programme, reflecting your own particular interests.

But whatever courses you take, you will deepen your understanding of the fascinating political world in which we live, and develop the invaluable ability to think clearly about that world and the processes at work within it. The widely applicable skills you will acquire – in the analysis of problems, in research, in the assimilation and assessment of evidence, and in presentation – will provide you with the basis for success in a variety of careers, not only in political life and the media, but throughout the public and private sectors.
