At the University of Waikato you can specialise in Psychology, and graduate with a BSocSc, BA or BSc (with Psychology as the major subject).
First Year Papers
There are two papers which provide an introduction to a wide variety of topics in psychology through lectures and laboratory classes. Usually one of the papers is offered in each semester. It is recommended that students intending to major in Psychology for the BA, BSocSc or the BSc include PSYC102 and PSYC103 in the first year of the programme in order to meet prerequisites for study at 200 level.

Second Year Papers
There are two 20 point papers and six 10 point papers that you can choose from in the 2nd year. The papers explore in more detail some of the topics you were introduced to in first year. The following 200 level papers are compulsory for a BA or BSocSc Psychology major: PSYC208, and 40 points from PSYC225, PSYC226, PSYC227, PSYC228, PSYC229 and PSYC230. It is recommended that students majoring in Psychology take all 200 level 10 point papers. The following 200 level papers are compulsory for a BSc Psychology major: PSYC208, PSYC225, PSYC226, PSYC227 and PSYC230.

Third Year Papers
There are currently eleven papers to choose from in your 3rd year of study covering a wide range of specialisations. It is also possible to do an individual research project in an area of your interest (Directed Study), depending on staff availability. All students intending to proceed to graduate study in Psychology should include PSCY307 in their programme of study.
