Creative Practices is available as a major for the BMCT. Creative Practices may also be taken as a second major or as a supporting subject within other undergraduate degrees, subject to academic approval of the Faculty or School of Studies in which the student is enrolled.
Subject Regulations
To complete a major in Creative Practices, students must gain 120 points above 100 level from those listed for the subject, including at least 60 points above 200 level. These must include the compulsory papers listed.

CRPC200 Social Practices and Creative Technologies: Foundation
and
CRPC300 Social Practices and Creative Technologies: Advanced
As well as the 100 level compulsory papers for the BMCT, it is recommended that students intending to major in Creative Practices include papers in the first year of their programme of study that meet prerequisites for study at 200 level and above.
There are four pathways for the Creative Practices Major. These are:
» Dance: Two of ALED225, SPLS208, SPLS214 or TIKA253, and SPLS308 and TIKA357
» Māori Arts: Two of TIKA211, TIKA241, TIKA251, TIKA253 or TIKA257, and TIKA341 and TIKA357
» Music: Two of MUSI215, MUSI240 or TIKA241, and two of MUSI315, MUSI323, MUSI340 or TIKA341
» Theatre: THST202, TIKA263, THST301 and THST302
Note: Students must gain at least 60 points at 100 level in any subject(s) before enrolling in English Studies papers above 100 level, and at least 90 points at 100 and 200 level before enrolling in English Studies papers above 200 level.
