Introduction to Population Studies

Aim/Objectives
Topics include growth and distribution of world population; fertility, nuptiality, mortality and migration as demographic processes; their relation to socio-economic phenomena and their spatial implications; and an introduction to population analysis. The paper uses New Zealand data and compares these with overseas patterns and trends, to give students an overview of substantive issues and techniques of demographic analysis.
