Social Science Research - Careers
The programme in Social Science Research in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is unique in New Zealand. It provides a depth and quality of research skills that constitute an advantage for many careers. Social Science research skills are essential for many central and local government positions, particularly those of policy analyst and advisory officer. Some government departments have their own independent research groups. Many Social Science researchers find employment in the private sector: in market research organisations, broadcasting, management consultancy firms, banks and insurance companies, and as independent research consultants. Community, union and volunteer organisations often employ social researchers.
Social Science Research goes well with most majors, such as: Public Policy, Political Science, Geography, Maori and Pacific Development, History, the languages, Educations Studies, Sociology.
