Student Services Offered by (FIC)

The Faculty Information Centre (FIC) is located on the ground floor of J Block alongside the Faculty Reception. FIC is open Monday - Friday from 9am - 3.30pm and provides a number of services to all Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences students.

AssignmentsSubmitting Assignments

The deadline for all assignments is 4.30pm on the due date.

Most subjects in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences use FIC as a collection and distribution point for assignments.  Your lecturers will advise whether you are to hand in assignments at FIC.

All assignments handed into FIC should be stapled and have a cover page with your name and paper code at the top. Cover pages and staplers are available at FIC for your use. You should make a copy of all assignments.   Assignments must not be folded.

Assignments can be mailed or faxed to FIC.  Your name, ID number and the paper code must appear clearly at the top of the front page.

Fax: 07 838 4636
Postal address: Faculty Information Centre, University of Waikato, Private Bag 3105, Hamilton 3240.

Collecting Marked Assignments and Tests

Assignment Checkpoint is the FIC database which tells you when your marked assignments and tests are available for you to collect. It can be accessed online from any computer in the university or off-campus.

Please ensure that you use Assignment Checkpoint to confirm that your assignments are ready to be collected.

You must have your Student ID card to collect your assignments.

AssignmentsSubject Handouts

You may be asked to collect handouts for some of your papers from FIC

Lecture Notes

Some lecturers leave lecture or tutorial notes at FIC for you to read or photocopy. You will be advised by your lecturer if that is the case.

Photocopying

To activate the student photocopiers in FIC you will need Unicash funds loaded on your One Card and your 4 digit PIN number. The red kiosk on Level 1 in the library is a handy place to load your card.

Obtaining Computer Lab After Hours Access

After hours Cardax Authorisation forms are available from FIC. These are checked and signed by a staff member and the form is then taken, by the student, to Security Services where the required entry data is loaded on your ID card.

Computer Access

FIC has several machines available in the foyer area where you can:

We welcome any students wanting information and advice, and you are welcome to sit and study in the student area.
