As a student of Te Kura Kete Aronui, you are entitled to a wide range of resources. Here is an outline of some of them, so take advantage of what's on offer and you could reach your goals faster.

Māori Student Support Coordinator

 

Facilitate the working of Te Aka Matua - the Maori student support ropu on campus for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

To work with academic and general staff of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in providing a supportive environment for Maori FASS students.

Publicise and promote the services of the kaitakawaenga Maori and other support services on campus to Maori FASS students.

Promote and support initiatives designed to facilitate the expression of tikanga Maori and te reo Maori by students and staff within the Faculty.

Manage the FASS Māori enrolments email network for dissemination relevant general information to ALL enrolled students of the Faculty.

To assist with marketing and recruitment initiatives targeting Maori school leavers.

Distribute scholarship and grant information relevant to Maori students.

Te Aka Matua

 

Help with academic issues that you may have including issues with enrolment procedures and enrolment options, lecturers, courses, assignments, tests, exams, academic writing methods, study difficulties and any other academic support.

Organise extra tutorials, workshops and study wananga to aid with this.

Hui whakawhanaungatanga throughout the year and social sporting occasions.

Academic wānanga with handouts.

Kaiāwhina from Screen and Media, Psychology, Anthropology, Geography, Linguistics, Political Sciences, English, Social Science Research, Philosophy and Graduate studies.

Team

Te Rūma (JK.2.02) drop in centre 10-4pm

 

Trained kaiāwhina to talk to in a whānau environment.

Specific times for specific subjects.

Compulsory FASS text books.

Computer for internet access with kaiāwhina.

Paper and departmental information.

Study space on campus.
