Junjun is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Wilf Malcolm Institute of Educational Research since 2010. She is currently working on the project about teachers’ use of the Science Learning Hub and its impact on teaching, learning and student engagement in science.
Junjun’s research interests also include measuring teachers’ and students’ affective and cognitive attitudes (e.g., teaching & assessment), and how these attitudes link to other educational practices (e.g., teaching practice & achievement). Junjun was previously involved, as a part-time research assistant, in three projects regarding assessment funded by the Multi-Service Education Trust in Auckland, the University of Auckland, and the Ministry of Education.
Her research methodologies are mixed in nature including classroom observations, interview, focus group discussions, archival data, and surveys. Junjun is especially experienced in managing large-scale surveys and analysing quantitative data using techniques such as effect size, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modelling (SEM). She is skilful in using quantitative data analysis statistical packages such as PASW and AMOS, and qualitative data analysis software such as Nvivo.
