The University of Waikato Charter
This Charter is provided in accordance with section 159N of the Education Act 1989, and is approved by the Associate Minister of Education (Tertiary Education), with effect from 1 January 2004 to 31 December 2011.
The University of Waikato Council is responsible for the governance of the University, provides strategic direction and give final approval on decisions that affect the entire University. These decisions are guided by the principles of the Charter.
The University of Waikato Investment Plan 2013-2015 was approved for funding purposes by the Tertiary Education Commission in November 2012.
Integrated Strategic Planning Framework
The University's planning framework is represented by a 'planning pyramid'. The University Strategy flows from the University's Charter and Vision and informs integrated planning across the University.

The University of Waikato Vision 2005-2015 was approved by Council on 11 May 2005. This provides a high-level context for the development and implementation of detailed strategies to deliver the Vision over the next 10 years.
