Competitive Advantage presents the work of nine local painters. Each at different points in their careers, the artists’ come together in an exhibition of bold, fresh works. Accompanied by a new poem from artist and writer Faith Wilson, Competitive Advantage becomes an exploration of the human condition, the artists’ negotiation of contemporary society, and a celebration of the materiality of paint.
Artists in Competitive Advantage: Leafa Wilson, Zena Elliott, Helen Dowling, Sarah Mitchell Munro, Amanda Watson Green, Carmel Rose Van Der Hoeven, Priscilla McIntosh, Eliza Webster, and Rachel Hope Peary. Curated by Wendy Richdale, Competitive Advantage opens at the Calder & Lawson Gallery (University of Waikato) on Monday 16 October and can be viewed through until its close on Friday 8 December, 2017.
