Experience two years of Waikato artists championing the fight for unity, through a powerful collection of hopeful and conversation sparking works of art.

This exhibition is a continuation of the Kotahitanga project that was launched by Creative Waikato during the national 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, where artists were selected and works commissioned as part of a regional campaign to strengthen the unity of our communities. These works formed a collection which was first presented at the Nancy Caiger Gallery as well as in the formal online gallery: http://kotahitangagallery.nz

Following on from last year’s project was the development of a school’s resource kit which encourages creativity in tamariki aged 5-8, and explores the use of art for social cohesion and community building, as well as for dealing with complex issues.

The first collection of artworks created, the contribution of the art of our tamariki across the region and a call for new works to add to the Kotahitanga collection, will all come together to continue this conversation in an exhibition at the Waikato University Academy of Performing Arts Gallery space and expanded online gallery.
