Co-Directors' Welcome

Kia ora koutou - Greetings

Donella Cobb

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Centre for Global Studies (CGS), based in Te Kura Toi Tangata School of Education at the University of Waikato.

The Centre adopts a multi-disciplinary approach involving staff from across the University to explore and research the new challenges that are emerging in our globalised, increasingly interconnected and interdependent world. Global studies appraises the complex ideas that underpin globalisation, and encourages critical links between groups. The discipline helps students to reflect on and understand what it means to be globally informed.

The Centre encompasses world-leading scholarship, research, publications, postgraduate teaching, and hosts conferences and seminars on a wide range of topics related to a broad range of global issues.

Explore our website to learn more about our activities and check out the postgraduate papers offered in the Master of Education specialisation of Global Studies in Education as we create a collaborative international postgraduate network. Please visit the conferences and seminars pages to learn more about the events we have already had and the conferences and seminars we have planned for the future.

Take some time to get to know us, and visit often, as we will update the site frequently. We welcome your comments, suggestions, thoughts and enquiries - so email us at [email protected] and/or [email protected]. The Global Studies community looks forward to hearing from you.

With this brief introduction, we welcome you to the Centre for Global Studies in Education.

Nga mihi
