MyWaikato for students
MyWaikato is your new, mobile-friendly system for managing your enrolments, enquiries, timetable, final grades, research progress, graduation, academic record and much more.
What can you do in MyWaikato?
MyWaikato is designed to support you during your entire University journey from application right through to graduation.
Here are some of the things you can do in MyWaikato: (note: the links below will only work for students; staff will be redirected to their MyWaikato homepage)
- Enrol to study, choose papers, or change your enrolment
- View your University account balance and pay your fees
- View your timetable (lectures only)
- View your final grades
- Update your personal and contact details
- Request a copy of your Academic Record
- Submit your research progress reports (higher degree students only)
- Apply to graduate (students near the end of their qualification only)
- Access MyWaikato Enquiries to ask a question or browse FAQs (use the buttons on your MyWaikato homepage)
Has MyWaikato replaced iWaikato?
Effectively, yes. You won’t need iWaikato (our previous system) anymore, but it’ll still be available to you just in case. You can access apps like Unicash and past exam papers from your Student Portal.
Setting up your MyWaikato login
Are you new to the University of Waikato? Here’s some help setting up your login.
Once you’ve applied to study and accepted your Offer of Place, you will receive an email with your username. Your username will be a combination of letters and numbers.
Navigate to the Password Reset page and enter your username. Then select Next.
Enter your email address or mobile number, which you provided to the University when you applied to study. Then select Next.
Check your email or mobile (which you entered at step 2) for your code.
Enter your code on the Password Reset page, and select Next.
Now you need to choose a password. Your password must be at least 7 characters long, and contain at least one:
- letter, like a, b or c
- number, like 1, 2 or 3 and
- symbol, like *, % or $.
Enter your password in both fields, and select Next.
You will be taken to the University of Waikato website. In the top-right, select Login.
Enter your username and new password, and select Sign in.
You will then be logged into your Student Portal. From here, you can access MyWaikato under Quick Links.
Hint: You can also access MyWaikato directly at My.Waikato.ac.nz.

Te Kuhukuhu Rārangi - Log Your Own Request
"Kuhukuhu" is our IT Service Catalogue. You can search for and log your own service requests. You can also view the status of your current requests and see the estimated delivery time for them, provide further information by adding notes or attaching files, and view a full history of all previous requests.
