Configure UOW Students for Windows 8 & 8.1

Please ensure your device is updated to the latest version of windows 8, and if these instructions do not give you access to UOW Students please use the Windows 7 instructions.

Open Networks by clicking on the Internet Access icon in the task tray

You may see a number of networks. Click on UOW Students

choose network

Click Connect

Enter your Waikato username (add @students.waikato.ac.nz if on a Tauranga campus) and password

win8 authenticate

Confirm that the network you want to connect to is the one listed. Click Connect.

Click on View Connection Settings.

Two options here:

1. Click on UOW Students to see the Properties. This brings up details  about the connection, useful for diagnosing problems when talking to the Service Desk

2. Click on Manage known Networks to Forget the network.

To disconnect open Networks by clicking on the Internet Access icon in the task tray (as above - top) Click on UOW Students and click Disconnect.

Extended Instructions

If you have followed the above exactly and you can't connect please do the following:

Go to Start > Search > type CMD > in the black pop up window that comes up type the following line:

netsh wlan delete profile name="UOW Students"

Press Enter > the box may then close itself - if not close it.
Then follow the instructions for Windows 7

You can also view the status of your current requests and see the estimated delivery time for them, provide further information by adding notes or attaching files, and view a full history of all previous requests.
