Student ID Card – Photograph Requirements
Once your enrolment is complete, we will need a photograph of you to produce your student ID Card.
Photograph requirements are:
Once you have the digital photo email it to firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name and Student ID number.
Alternatively, we can take the photo for your Student ID card at the following locations:
- Student Centre, Level 2, Hamilton campus
- Information Centre at either the Windermere or Bongard campuses in Tauranga
Keep your contact details up-to-date so we can keep in touch. You can do this easily at through iWaikato > Common Tasks > Check Personal & Contact Details > Contact Details
At the registration kiosk
Student ID Cards are now automatically registered to your account upon issue from the enrollment center (either in person or when sent via post) so you no longer need to use the registration kiosks on campus.
If you are a current or past student with an existing computer account and were issued a card before 2017 you can use the registration kiosks to request your PIN code be sent to your Email.
To do so select the Existing Student option and enter your username and password to resend the email with your PIN number. ID cards issued from 2017 onward can request their PIN be resent via a phone (07)838 4008 or email email@example.com
If you're an off campus student you can set up your account through the New User Setup.
Once your student ID card is activated, an email will be sent (to your Waikato email address) with a PIN for use with Waikato IT systems. If you are studying in Tauranga you will also be emailed a PIN for use on Tauranga campuses.
The following locations have been setup on campus to facilitate the process:

After Hours Labs / Buildings Access
Students need appropriate approval from their department and go to the Security Office (building BX) to enable access to the relevant building.
If you have forgotten your PIN you can either check with the Security Office on 0800 WAIKATO ext 4444 or firstname.lastname@example.org (the ITS Service Desk has no access to PINs) or present your card at a registration kiosk to request your PIN to be sent out again.
Faulty, Damaged or Lost ID Cards
The Student Centre issues ID cards. If your card is faulty there will be no charge for a replacement. If a card has been damaged or is lost a cost of $15.00 will apply for a new card.
You can request a replacement ID card from The Student Centre located on Level 2 of the Library, located on the Hamilton Campus, contacting email@example.com or phoning our student information centre on (07)838 4176. Please make sure to include your student ID number when requesting a replacement.
If you are unable to make it to campus, you can pay online through our Direct Credit/Internet Banking and just email firstname.lastname@example.org to advise of the payment for a replacement ID Card. Please include in the payment:
- Your Student ID number
- A reference to ID Card
Log Your Own Ticket
The University has provided a Self Service tool through which you can log your own tickets (jobs). You can also search for a previously logged ticket to check it's status. For urgent jobs you can phone the ITS Service Desk: ext 4008 (838 4008) for support.
