The Knowledge Basket South Pacific PINI database (formerly known as Niustext) contains the full text of newspapers, magazines and other resources from the South Pacific. New material is added daily, including retrospective coverage. Archival coverage varies for each title.


The Blackwell Encyclopedia of Sociology is the definitive reference source in the field, with entries ranging from short definitions of key terms to extended explorations of major topics. This ground-breaking project brings together specially commissioned entries written and edited by an international team of the world's best scholars and teachers. It presents materials that have historically defined the discipline, but also more recent developments, significantly updating the store of sociological knowledge. In particular, the encyclopedia introduces sociological theories and research that have developed outside of the United States and Western Europe.

The Journal of the Polynesian Society aims to promote the scholarly study of past and present New Zealand Māori and other Pacific Island peoples and cultures.The Journal began in 1892 and covers topics related to the past and present lives and cultures of peoples of Pacific/Oceanic heritage, including those of the traditional cultural areas of Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia.  The early issues of the Journal contain indigenous texts and traditions contributed by Pacific peoples, as well as by missionaries and other sojourners, often published in local languages with English translations. Contributing scholars have included social/cultural anthropologists, archaeologists, historians, linguists and physical/biological anthropologists. More recently they have been joined by sociologists, political scientists, economists and other scholars.  Full text searchable.
