This page lists all the supported styles we used here in the Library and explains a little bit about the conventions and formatting. See also, Why Reference?.
Style Conventions and Formatting
When it comes to referencing styles, most departments will have an allocated or preferred style of referencing. However some courses just require a consistent style. Using a consistent format helps the reader to properly identify and locate the works you cited. Being familiar with the conventions of the referencing style used in your course reading lists will also make it easier to search the Library catalogue for these readings, because the formatting will enable you to recognise which part of the citation should be entered for a title search.
Library Referencing Style Guides
The Library supports many referencing styles and has produced the following guides to help you with your chosen style.
