About Paul

I am an expert in the fields of education technology and systems administration, and I am currently an ICT relationship manager and technical team leader at the University of Waikato. My IT career has largely been spent working in academia, which I’ve found to be a challenging and intellectually rewarding experience, providing me with a wealth of opportunities to innovate with consumer and IT technologies with a focus on discovering applications in education and teaching. I’m also a lifelong developer, and I've been privileged to be involved in a number of fantastic software projects - some of which have received significant media attention.  GarryLab

I am an excellent manager of teams and individuals, and I have worked to develop a strong skillset in leadership and mentorship. Using these skills I have overseen and delivered many diverse and challenging ICT projects from inception to completion. My technical interests are in the fields of ICT team leadership, podcasting, modern eBook technologies, mobile device management, and collaborative learning spaces. I’m actively involved in the emerging field of remote identification, geolocation and recovery of stolen ICT hardware. I enjoy opportunities to speak and present publically on these and other topics, supporting and problem solving with people and looking at new ways technology can influence pedagogy.
