About Ryan

Dr Paul currently works as an Endocrinologist / Diabetologist for Waikato District Health Board.  He also recently completed a PhD with the University of Auckland investigating regulation of sexually dimorphic growth of skeletal muscle by the GH/IGF-1/Myostatin axis and gonadal steroids.  Currently, he is involved in projects investigating the effects of different types of exercise on glycaemic control, determining the mechanisms of glucose uptake in skeletal muscle, investigating the role of the gut microbiome in gestational diabetes, characterising the epidemiology of Type 1 diabetes across the lifespan, and models to improve care in young adults with diabetes, including with GDM.
