About Yingsha

Yingsha holds a PhD in hospitality management; a master’s degree in human geography; a bachelor’s degree in tourism management; a graduate certificate in applied statistics; and multiple certificates in computer programming (e.g., Python, Visual FoxPro). Yingsha is also a certified hospitality educator, a certified Chinese tour guide, and a certified AutoCAD designer.

Yingsha's research interests include destination marketing and management, consumer behaviour and decision making, tourism and hospitality analytics, and tourism geography, with a focus on theme parks and new research techniques (e.g., big data, machine learning, and computer simulation).

Yingsha has published articles in top-tier tourism journals, such as Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, and Annals of Tourism Research. She has presented articles at many international tourism and hospitality conferences, including TTRA, ICHRIE, CAUTHE, ApacCHRIE, and Grad Conference.

Yingsha has led or participated in 27 tourism projects funded by governments, tourism companies, and institutions throughout China, the United States, New Zealand, and Canada. As a principal investigator or associate investigator, she has received funding totalling US$1,832,360.

Yingsha has worked in the tourism and hospitality industries in China and New Zealand for more than five years (across full-time, part-time, internship, and volunteer experiences). Specifically, she has spent time in tourism agencies, hotels, tourism consultation institutions, an event company, and a museum.
