Th3sis in 3 - 2010 Competition
The 2010 Th3sis in 3 Final was held on Wednedsday 27 October, at the Clarence Street Theatre in Hamilton. With Te Radar as the MC, the event was a mix of entertainment and
intellectual stimulation. Our 10 finalists delivered their presentations to a full auditorium of staff, friends, family and members of the general public.
Congratulations to our 2010 Th3sis in 3 winner:
Azilawati Banchit (Waikato Management School - Department of Finance with her presentation titled "Are Controlling Shareholders the New Corporate Bullies". Azilawati took
away the grand prize of $5,000, to use towards research expenses.
Congratulations to our Runner-up winner:
Michael Walmsley (Faculty of Computing & Mathematical Science) with his presentation titled "Leisurely Language Learning - Computer Assisted Reading in a Foreign Language".
Michael received $2,500, to use towards research expenses.
Michael was also awarded the University of Waikato Foundation People's Choice Award and received $500.
Our three finals judges for the night were - Professor Doug Sutton (Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Waikato), Dr. Hamish Keith OBE (freelance journalist, writer,
broadcaster and art consultant) and Sarah Bettle(Director of the Waikato Times Hamilton Garden Arts Festival).
