Health care management is one of the most challenging areas in our communities: everyone is directly or indirectly affected; everyone hears of good and bad performance examples; everyone has a personal preference for certain service levels; and everyone is an 'expert' in one or the other elements of health care. This paper will emphasise several key areas of health care service delivery: accreditation, customer service, risk management, legal issues and cultural competency, all in the context of managerial decision making.
