University Wide Pōwhiri 2013
February was a month filled with excitement and anticipation as thousands of new students arrived to embark on their journey of University studies here at Waikato.
True to the distinctive cultural character of the University of Waikato, new students and staff were given the opportunity to be formally welcomed with a traditional Māori pōwhiri or welcome onto Te Kohinga Mārama Marae.
Te Kohinga Mārama marae was bursting at the seems with hundreds of new students and staff, hailing from all across Aotearoa and the world, at the University wide pōwhiri which was held on Tuesday 19th February 2013.
The Vice Chancellor was in attendance supported by our Senior Kaikaranga and Kaikōrero, wider Te Puna Tautoko network and students of Te Waiora o Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato Māori Students Association.
