TUKUNA KIA RERE - 3MMT

RANGAHAU COMPETION TIME!!!

Te Toi o Matariki is hosting its own Tukuna kia Rere - (3MMT) 3 Minute Māori Thesis  competition. This is an opportunity for Māori students enrolled in a Masters or Honours programme to develop and demonstrate their skills in communicating and disseminating their rangahau quickly and effectively. It is also a chance to prepare for the up and coming Uni wide Masters 3MT (3 minute thesis) competition which starts on the 27th of June.

Presentations should address:

  1. What is your kaupapa?
  2. Why are you researching this kaupapa?
  3. What are the values/outcomes of your rangahau?

How it works:

  1. Use one static (still) slide only
  2. Pitch to a non-specialist, but generally academic/on to it minded crowd
  3. Three minutes to pitch only

Judging criteria:

  1. Comprehension
  2. Engagement
  3. Communication

Prizes:

1st place - $300, 2nd place - $200, 3rd place - $100

A range of spot prizes will also be given out on the day.

To be eligible you must:

  1. Be currently enrolled in any Masters or Honours programme or has submitted in the past 3 months
  2. Have a substantial research component to their studies
  3. Have Māori or indigenous whakapapa
