Photography style

Please refer to the University of Waikato official brand guidelines for examples and guidance of photography style.

Images and graphics are equally effective as photos. Infographics are especially good at conveying information in a quick and interesting way.

Special considerations for the web

Be careful using images with white backgrounds as they can bleed into the background and lose their definition.

As space is often limited on a web page (especially mobile devices) - it is key to focus on the important details of an image, cropping away any unnecessary background elements. See example below:
