Research Skills Development
The concept of research skills development relates to the acquisition, understanding and application of information in a variety of social, cultural, academic and technological contexts. In order to produce graduates who are equipped with the research competencies to tackle future challenges, it is essential that there is a structured approach to the development of these skills starting at the undergraduate level and continuing through to doctoral study.
Testimonials
The RSD and the accompanying research tool kit has been very helpful for me as a framework for guiding and supporting postgraduate and doctoral students in a systematic manner through their research journey. More importantly, understanding that research skills dynamically interacts between the facets of inquiry and autonomy, I have been able to provide more focused sessions with students rather than “rough and ready” sessions.

The undergraduate degree I completed before starting a postgraduate degree was largely practical based, so the series of workshops really helped me in almost all aspects of my research skills from correctly finding the right academic articles, correctly formatting MS Word documents to correct referencing...if I want to go for a PhD in the future, these skills would be useful
