Hunter-Laura Dennis : Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts (BTCHG/BA)

Hunter-Laura Dennis

Contemporary dance has been Hunter-Laura Dennis’ passion for 12 years and she says the thrill and passion she feels when she dances is what she enjoys most. Hailing from Tauranga, Hunter-Laura has a strong back ground in urban dance and has been involved in a range of dance concerts and musicals, including her school’s musicals ‘Guys and Dolls’ and ‘Hairspray.’ In 2014 she attended an intensive week-long workshop with the New Zealand Dance Company and was chosen to perform with them on stage in their Land of the Living show as part of their youth company. In 2016 she choreographed one of Otumoetai College’s stage challenges teaching 56 year 10 and 11 students which won nine awards of excellence, and has had her own choreography displayed in both a local Bay Of Plenty Talent Showcase and an Event at the ASB Arena. Hunter-Laura says the most challenging aspects of dance are the personal expectations and pressures she puts on herself. Her future aspirations include turning dance into a career through teaching and inspiring others to reach their potential in the arts. Hunter-Laura plans to study a conjoint Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Arts majoring in Theatre Studies/Dance and English.
