Majoring in Classical Viola Performance, with violin as a second instrument, Sylvia Neild is in her final year of a Bachelor of Music. Being a keen chamber musician, Sylvia’s performing highlights have been attending the Adam Summer School for Chamber Music in 2014 and 2017, and being a member of the winning group at the 2016 Waikato University Chamber Competition. Sylvia enjoys playing a variety of music genres, from performances of Handel's Messiah and Bach's St Matthew's Passion with the Wairarapa Singers, to playing for community and school music theatre productions both in Hamilton and in her hometown Palmerston North, as well being one half of violin and cello duo Scroll Sisters for the past seven years, performing at weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations. A member of the 2015 and 2017 NZSO National Youth Orchestra, she has also had leadership roles with her hometown youth orchestra and the NZ Secondary Schools Symphony Orchestra. Sylvia attended Palmerston North Girls High School where she was Head of Arts, and where she also enjoyed coaching junior debating teams for the local inter school competition.
