Office of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Executive)

The Office of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Executive) deals with a range of functions directly related to the key responsibilities of the Vice-Chancellor, Chancellor and Council. They involve primarily governance processes and matters, the University's strategic planning, policy and risk management frameworks and institutional performance monitoring and reporting.

The Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Executive) is Secretary to Council and the central point of contact with the Chancellor. Council meetings are arranged from this Office and we work closely with staff of Community and External Relations with respect to a wide variety of initiatives and functions that allow Council members to engage with the University's internal and external communities. The Office of the Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Executive) is also responsible for Honours Committee meetings and matters.

The staff of this Office work closely in support of colleagues and committees to provide an effective management information and reporting system that informs planning, resource allocation and decision-making and meet external reporting obligations, so that the University can use its resources to best effect, maximise its academic reputation and achieve high levels of success in attracting students, staff and funders. It has key involvement in the design and use of the University's databases and systems associated with student enrolment information, analysis and external reporting.

The Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Executive) is the central point of coordination and liaison with the Tertiary Education Commission and leads the development and negotiation of the University's Investment Plan.

The Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Executive) is the University's Official Information and Privacy Officer, and is responsible for our committee structures and protocols and for ensuring high quality committee processes.

The work of the Office related to risk management is aimed at making sure that risk assurance is integrated within the University's strategic planning and day-to-day activities. Internal audit processes are managed within this Office, along with externally contracted legal services.
