University of Waikato Sponsored Hangout

Life in the Extreme - From Antarctica's Valleys to Volcanoes

Our sponsorship partner ScienceAlert is hosting a live Google hangout with our very own Professor Craig Cary and Stephen Archer, one of his PhD students.

Learn about the bizarre bacteria, plants and tiny invertebrates living in two of Antarctica's most hostile regions - the continent's desert-like valleys and the volcanic crater of Mount Erebus.

Craig, from Waikato's International Centre for Terrestrial Antarctic Research, has dedicated his career to studying life forms that exist in extreme locations and finding out how they've adapted to survive.

Join Craig and Stephen as they talk to ScienceAlert and answer your questions about their work on the frozen continent and what these lifeforms may suggest about the potential of finding life on other planets.

Ask your questions on Science Alert’s Facebook event page or on Twitter using the hashtag #SAhangout.
