Dave Whitehead

Born at the bottom of the world in Invercargill, New Zealand, Dave Whitehead is a freelance sound designer and composer currently based at Park Road Post in Wellington, New Zealand.

He has worked on several international blockbusters including: 'The Adventures of Tin Tin', 'The Lovely Bones', 'District 9', 'The Waterhorse', 'King Kong' and 'The Lord of the Rings Trilogy'. His current projects include 'Jack The Giant Killer', 'The Hobbit', 'Elysium' and 'Snowpiercer.

He has over 20 years experience in creating sound and music for film and television. He has been nominated for a BAFTA and CAS award and has won Golden Reel (Motion Picture Sound Editor Awards) for the films 'District 9' and Tin Tin. He has also been nominated for several other Golden Reels and New Zealand film awards.

He loves creating original sound design and sound palettes for film in any genre. He enjoys blurring the edges of sound and music in general.
