A exhibition entitled Perseverance: Japanese Tattoo Tradition in a Modern World is now held at Canterbury Museum, located in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is interesting to see Japanese tattoo in such a context. Here is the official website of the museum.

Waikato OE photo comp 2017.jpg

Any Waikato students can apply for exchange programmes. We had the OE photo competition on campus the other day. All photos with a bit of captions clearly showed that the exhange programme participants had a great time wherever they went and studied.

I am glad that I saw those photos!

Japan's good old days airbrushed to cartoonish perfection

An adaptation of a beloved manga, Always, the first installment of the films came out in 2005, and instantly garnered a cult following. Almost five years after Always 2, Always 3 concludes the trilogy. Always is often considered a bit of a tear jerker-and part three is no exception. But while some films go for cheap melancholy, this film manages to move you with the barebones simplicity of the situation it portrays.

Presented by Consulate-General of Japan in Auckland, The Japan Foundation
Supported by The University of Waikato
