Jen Scoular: CEO, New Zealand Avocado
Jen is a successful and experienced international business professional, with extensive experience and expertise in strategy, international trade and building global networks.
Jen joined New Zealand Avocado as CEO in February 2011. Her primary role is to set and implement a strategy for the avocado industry. Within that Jen has successfully led the first horticulture Primary Growth Partnership programme, a five year initiative with crown investment, to triple productivity and quadruple sales by 2023.
Prior to this role, Jen was a trade diplomat with a four year posting as New Zealand Consul General and Trade Commissioner in Hamburg, Germany. Here she was charged with driving commercial success for New Zealand exporters in Northern and Eastern Europe, Russia and Turkey.
Prior to this she spent seven years with Zespri International, most latterly as Group Treasurer, with earlier roles as Commercial & Finance Manager.
Jen was raised in Tauranga and gained a Commerce degree at Canterbury University. Upon graduation she started her international career by joining Barclays Merchant Bank in London where she went on to became a director.
Jen is active in the community, and as well as her role as Trustee for the University of Waikato Foundation, she is Tauranga branch chair of the NZ Institute of International Affairs.
