Health Law and Ethics Professor to visit

Associate Professor Kate Diesfeld JD, is the Director of the National Centre for Health Law and Ethics at AUT University and she will be spending her sabbatical at the Waikato School of Law from 2 February 2010 to 31 May 2010. Kate will be giving a guest lecture during her stay and details of the lecture will be advertised in the new year.
Kate is a member of the State Bar of California and represented people with developmental disabilities for Protection and Advocacy in Los Angeles. From 1992 to 2000, she was Legal Supervisor for the Kent Law Clinic (Mental Health and Learning Disability) and law lecturer at Kent Law School at University of Canterbury (England). She also represented clients before the Mental Health Tribunal in England for eight years.
Kate became a member of the Faculty of Health at AUT University in 2001 and is Director of the National Centre for Health Law and Ethics. She teaches at the undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral levels while conducting research and health law consultancy.
