Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Scholarships

Te Piringa – Faculty of Law Entrance Scholarship

Value: up to $1,800

For school leavers enrolling full-time in the first year of an LLB, Diploma of Law or a conjoint degree within Te Piringa - Faculty of Law who have performed at a high standard with a minimum endorsement of Merit in NCEA Level 2 and/or the NZ Scholarships assessments (or equivalent). Conditional upon the recipient gaining a minimum Merit endorsement on their NCEA Level 3 certificate (or equivalent).

Te Piringa – Faculty of Law Endeavour Scholarship

Value: up to $1,800

For school leavers enrolling full-time in the first year of an LLB, Diploma of Law or a conjoint degree within Te Piringa - Faculty of Law who have performed at a high standard with a minimum endorsement of Merit in NCEA Level 2 and/or the NZ Scholarships assessments (or equivalent) and have demonstrated financial need or other special circumstance. Conditional upon the recipient gaining a minimum Merit endorsement on their NCEA Level 3 certificate (or equivalent).

Te Ara ki Angitū Scholarship

Value: Up to $5,000

For school leavers from a large number of waikato regional secondary schools. The Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of evidence of financial need, personal circumstances, leadership and community roles, academic ability and commitment to succeed in University study.

Martha Morse Student Exchange Scholarship

Value: up to $1,000

The Martha Morse Scholarship may provide up to $1,000.00 for law student(s) who plan to pursue a semester study overseas as part of their LLB with a partner Law School. It may be awarded once or twice a year for exchanges in B Semester 1 April and A Semester 1 September.

To be eligible applicants must have (a) completed at least 2 years of LLB study at Te Piringa; (b) have been accepted into a UoW Exchange programme; (c) be a New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or International student enrolled in our LLB and (d) be a full or part-time student. Preference will be given to students with a B+ average and have at least 1 semester remaining at Te Piringa after completing the exchange programme.

Russell McVeagh University Law Scholarship

Value: $1,000 for your first year of university;

  • $2,000 in the following years (up to a maximum of four years) once you have been accepted into law school;
  • $6,000 additional payment if you join Russell McVeagh as a graduate;
  • Work experience at Russell McVeagh during part of the winter term holidays
