Bachelor of Laws LLB
Programme Requirements
The Bachelor of Laws degree comprises a total of 480 points, of which 100 points are required from other subjects (some subjects and papers may have individual entry requirements).
To satisfy NZ Council of Legal Education requirements, students wishing to proceed to the Professional Legal Studies programme and admission as a Barrister and Solicitor must complete a Level 4 paper in Legal Ethics (10 points)
Law 1
Seven papers as follows:
LAWS103Y Legal Method
LAWS106Y Legal Systems and Societies
LAWS107Y Constitutional Law
and four papers chosen from subjects offered by another Faculty/School of Study, including two in a single subject specified as a "major" subject.
Law 2
Six papers as follows:
and two papers above Level 1 in a single major subject from another Faculty/School of Study.
Law 3
Six papers as follows:
LAWS307Y Land Law
LAWS308Y Equity and Succession
LAWS4XXX Level 4 optional paper (20 points)
Law 4
120 points at level 4 optional papers. Please note that 140 points are required in total at 400 level and 160 points if LAWS426 replaces LAWS305.
