Bachelor of Laws with Honours LLB(Hons)
The Honours programme is designed to provide academically able students with the opportunity to pursue academic legal research. Students can undertake the Honours programme as part of a conjoint degree.
Entry Criteria
Students who have completed Law 2 may be invited into the LLB(Hons) programme provided that they have obtained at least a B+ average:
- over all law papers credited to the LLB degree; and
- over all papers credited to the LLB degree
Some students may be invited into the LLB(Hons) programme at the completion of Law 3.
Programme Requirements
The Bachelor of Laws degree comprises a total of 480 points, of which 100 points are required from other subjects (some subjects and papers may have individual entry requirements). The Honours programme comprises an additional 60 points which must be completed within two years from the commencement of Law 4. To satisfy NZ Council of Legal Education requirements, students wishing to proceed to the Professional Legal Studies programme and admission as a Barrister and Solicitor must complete a Level 4 paper in Legal Ethics (10 points).
