Te Kohikohinga o Aotearoa - The New Zealand Collection, at the University of Waikato Library, contains material relating to New Zealand and selected areas of the Pacific, as well as literary works written by New Zealanders.
The Collection has more than 100 000 items, including books, journals, newspapers, pamphlets, government publications and statistics. Computer terminals allow access to the internet, to external databases, both online and on cdrom, and to internally produced databases such as the Māori and Waikato Bibliographies.
Books
Most books are shelved in the main sequence in the New Zealand Collection. There is also a small run of Large Books. We also have a temperature controlled Rare Books Room which contains all books published up to 1900, second copies of books published 1901-1945, handprinted or handmade New Zealand poetry and some valuable or rare books.
Journals
Most New Zealand journals are shelved in the relevant journals collections rather than in the New Zealand Collection. The New Zealand Collection holds a small number of discontinued journals. Check the Library Catalogue for the location of the journal you are looking for.
Newspapers
The following titles are held in the New Zealand Collection (last three months only). Earlier copies of the first three titles listed below are held in the Microforms Collection on Level 2:
